Fees

-Initial (15-30 minute) intake is free of charge.

• Individual therapy is $120 per session (typically 45-60 minutes).
• Family therapy is $150 per session (typically 45-60 minutes).
• Family education workshops are $75 per family.
• Therapy groups (e.g., social regulation and cognition groups) are $35-$50 per session. The total fee will be indicated for each group.
• Consultation (e.g., consultation regarding previous evaluations) is $250.
• Participation in IEP or other meetings is $200.
• As of January 1, 2023, psychological/neuropsychological evaluations are $2,500. This fee includes the diagnostic interview(s), any tests, a written report, and a feedback session. This increase was necessary due to the cost increase in testing supplies.  Please note that, if after the initial interview, we determine that an evaluation is not appropriate or needed, families/individuals will be charged for a consultation ($250).

We are not currently in-network for insurance companies. We are happy to provide a superbill to be submitted for reimbursement, but families are responsible for payment for services.  

Why Don't You Take Insurance?

We get asked this question a lot.  Insurance coverage for psychological and neuropsychological evaluations is complex.  With most insurance plans, testing is only covered when it is deemed medically necessary.  As a result, testing for learning differences or speech/language issues is often not covered because insurance companies consider it an educational issue.  Simple academic testing takes about 2 hours, with more in-depth testing taking upwards of 4 hours.  We frequently have to rule out academic challenges when we look at other issues like attention deficits or anxiety and those tests would not be covered by insurance.  Additionally, insurance companies often do not cover all the hours needed to complete an assessment.  By charging a flat fee for the evaluation, we can do whatever testing we believe is necessary to answer the questions you have about your child.  We understand that paying for services out of pocket is a financial strain for many families, which is why we keep our fees reasonable and offer payment plans.

Dr. Telford is a preferred provider with DCFS. Caseworkers interested in scheduling a psychological evaluation should be sure to have a signed consent for treatment, a signed release of information (if a POS agency), and completed 417s. We are unable to schedule an appointment until these documents are received.

Individuals and agencies interested in individual consultation or training should contact Oakley Psychological Associates for more information. Individual supervision is offered at $120 per session, but trainings and agency-based consultation depend on the specific need.
