Dr. Telford is the founder of Oakley Psychological Associates, where she conducts professional supervision/consultation and psychological/ neuropsychological evaluations for children and youth. Prior to forming Oakley Psychological Associates, Dr. Telford was the clinical director at Children’s Research Triangle (CRT). During her seventeen years at CRT, Dr. Telford routinely conducted psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, specializing in prenatal substance exposure, early childhood trauma, and early onset mental health issues. Dr. Telford was responsible for the training and supervision of diagnostic psychologists, students, and post-doctoral fellows. She conducted trainings for community-based agencies, gave presentations at state and national conferences on a variety of topics, and conducted trainings and support programs for parents and other community members.
During her time at CRT, Dr. Telford served as the project director for several federal grants and was part of the grant writing team that authored 6 successful, multi-million-dollar grant applications. She was a member of the clinical research team that published papers on prenatal substance exposure and served on several grant review committees for the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and the Substances Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
In her personal life, Dr. Telford is a proud member of the Lincoln Square community and a mother of 3 children and a rambunctious pit bull. She loves to cook, travel with her family, and hike in the mountains. Her love of the outdoors and belief in the healing power of nature is reflected throughout Oakley Psychological Associate’s office.
Dr. Kohlman is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in neuropsychology. She received her doctoral degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology, and completed a two year pediatric neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Kohlman is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in neuropsychology. She received her doctoral degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology, and completed a two year pediatric neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship. Her clinical training has focused on treatment of individuals throughout the lifespan presenting with a variety of mental health issues including neurodevelopmental disorders, learning disabilities, child and adult ADHD, anxiety, stress, depression, major life transitions, substance use disorders, and psychotic disorders. She also has experience working with a wide range of medical problems that contribute to difficulty functioning including pediatric cancer, brain tumors, bariatric surgery, and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Kohlman previously worked in hospital settings, inpatient psychiatric facilities, community mental health clinics, and private practices. Dr. Kohlman currently conducts neuropsychological testing for children, adolescents, and adults.
In addition to neuropsychological assessment, Dr. Kohlman has a passion for assisting others in developing healthy emotional functioning and facilitating a flexible mindset to improve quality of life through psychotherapy. Her approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based practices and generally eclectic in nature. Dr. Kohlman works to meet the client where they are at, developing a pace of therapy that is most beneficial for their state of change. She has also facilitated psychoeducational groups and social skills groups for children and adolescents. She enjoys working with children and helping them better understand themselves.
